Weekly C-USA Basketball Power Rankings:

1. Middle Tennessee (9-4, 1-0 C-USA) –
Nick King is the obvious choice for POY right now but the scary thing is that Giddy Potts hasn’t had a “Giddy” type game yet. The guard has yet to score 20+ points in a game this year after doing it 8 times a season ago.

2. Old Dominion (10-3, 1-0 C-USA) –
Nitty and gritty is the Monarch way isn’t it? The Monarchs have a top 10 defense only giving up 60.8 PPG. ODU also is as experienced as they come as they start two seniors and three juniors.

3. UAB (9-5, 0-1 C-USA) –
Chris Cokley (16.8 PPG/9.5 RPG) is proving why he is an all C-USA type player. Their backcourt of Nick Norton and Zach Bryant has been extra nice as well with a 2-1 turnover ratio while pouring in a combined 22 PPG.

4. Western Kentucky (10-5, 2-0 C-USA) –
Their 5 losses this year have come by a combined 22 points with the largest defeat by 8 points. Only thing that might come back to hurt them is depth but other than that look for them to stay around the top of the standings.

5. Marshall (11-4, 2-0 C-USA) –
Jon Elmore (23.5 PPG, 7.5 APG, 4.9 RPG) is THAT dude and he’s making players around him better. Ajdin Penava has been a huge surprise this year, he is averaging 17.7 PPG, 9.6 RPG and 4.2 BPG compared to 6.1 PPG, 3.9 RPG and 1.1 BPG a year ago.

6. Louisiana Tech (9-6, 0-2 C-USA) –
Not sure what to expect without Jalen Harris besides Jacobi Boykins balling out. Expect them to win out this week versus UTSA and UTEP.

7. North Texas (9-6, 2-0 C-USA) –
Maybe not getting as much respect as they deserve but Grant McCasland has done a great job and has them headed in the right direction. Won’t be surprised to see Roosevelt Smart on an All-CUSA team.

8. UTEP (6-8, 1-1 C-USA) –
I don’t even know besides the freshman core of Wade, Osborne, Gilyard, Magee and Smith are going to be niiiiiiiiice.

9. UTSA (8-7, 1-1 C-USA) –
Get to know this name now, Jhivvan Jackson. He’s either going to be playing at a P5 next year or torching C-USA teams next year. The freshman from Puerto Rico is putting up 17.2 PPG off the bench.

10. FIU (7-7, 1-0 C-USA) –
The Owls have increased their loss total every year since Anthony Evans has been their head coach but looks like he’s going to do a bit better than the 24 games they lost a year ago.

11. FAU (6-7, 0-1 C-USA) –
Ronald Delph is averaging a double-double in their 6 wins but isn’t in their 7 losses.

12. Southern Miss (7-8, 0-2 C-USA) –
Tyree Griffin is one of two players this season to average 14.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG and 5.5 APG.

13. Charlotte (4-8, 0-1 C-USA) –
Andrien White and Jon Davis are two really good players on a really bad team right now.

14. Rice (3-12, 0-2) –
After losing Mike Rhoades and basically all of their scoring from a year ago, what could you really expect?
